On 5 November, a coordination meeting on the organization of the 11th International Kunming Marathon of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, scheduled for 6 December 2026, was held in Kunming, PRC. The meeting was attended by SCO Deputy Secretary-General Sohail Khan, Kunming Vice-Mayor Liang Kun, and representatives of the Kunming Foreign Affairs Office, the Education and Sports Bureau, and the Culture and Tourism Bureau.
The participants noted that preparations for the marathon have entered their final stage. They discussed details of the program, and emphasized the importance of further close coordination among the respective institutions for the successful organization of this large-scale sporting event.
Since 2016, the SCO Kunming Marathon has become as one of the Organization's most important sporting and cultural events, attracting a large number of participants. The marathon makes a substantial contribution to strengthening sports cooperation and people's diplomacy within the SCO.
