SCO Heads of Regions Forum
The SCO Heads of Regions Forum of the SCO Member States is a voluntary association operating based on the principle of inclusivity The Regulations of the SCO Heads of Regions Forum were approved by a decision of the Council of Heads of Government of the SCO Member States on 14 June 2019.
The Forum was established in order to give region-to-region cooperation among SCO Member States a more systematic and practice-oriented character, to create conditions for direct dialogue, sharing experience and best practices in territorial development, and to discuss opportunities for further effective cooperation.
A total of four SCO Heads of Regions Forums have been held to date.
On 18 September 2024, the Fourth SCO Heads of Regions Forum took place in Omsk. The event brought together more than 500 delegates from 11 countries, including delegations from 15 regions of Russia, as well as Belarus, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and India.
The participants discussed prospects for region-to-region cooperation, including expanding the role and contribution of small businesses in the economies of the SCO Member States’ regions.
SCO Economic Forum
The Concept of the SCO Economic Forum was approved by a decision of the SCO Heads of State Council on 17 September 2021.
The main objective of the SCO Economic Forum is to provide a platform for dialogue on the challenges and prospects for developing mutually beneficial trade, economic and investment cooperation among the SCO Member States.
The SCO Economic Forum is held on a voluntary basis at the initiative of one of the SCO Member States.
The First SCO Economic Forum took place in the hybrid format in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on 16-17 August 2022. Reports were delivered by SCO delegation heads, followed by a series of events dealing with trade and economic relations across the SCO space.
