On 12–13 October 2026, the International Youth Forum of the Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation was held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on the theme "Youth Cooperation for a Sustainable Future: Water, Glaciers and Climate," dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the Youth Union of Tajikistan.
The event was attended by delegations from the relevant agencies of the SCO member states and representatives of the national sections of the SCO Youth Council.
The participants were welcomed by the First Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Youth and Sports Affairs under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Youth Union of Tajikistan, Shabnam Karimzoda. She called for joining efforts to jointly address global climate and environmental challenges.
Forum participants discussed key areas of cooperation. They were also presented with a draft concept and a work plan of the SCO Youth Water Initiative.
Following the event there was an award ceremony, anniversary medals, certificates of honour and commemorative prizes were presented to a number of leaders and public figures who have made a significant contribution to the development of the youth movement.
As a mark of high appreciation for the SCO's contribution to advancing youth policy, a medal was presented to a representative of the SCO Secretariat for Secretary General Nurlan Yermekbayev.
