On 13 October 2026, in Geneva (Swiss Confederation), a meeting was held between Deputy Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Ahmad Saidmurodzoda and Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva Tatiana Valovaya.
The interlocutors exchanged views on promising areas for developing interaction between the SCO Secretariat and the UN specialised agencies based in Geneva.
Relations between the UN and the SCO have been developing since 2004.
The SCO Secretariat has formalised relations with the UN Secretariat and seven specialised agencies of the world organisation – UNDP, ESCAP, UNESCO, OCHA, UNEP, FAO and UNWTO.
