On 1 October 2026, the 24th Meeting of the Prosecutors General of the SCO Member States was held in Kazan, Russian Federation, under the chairmanship of the Russian Federation. The meeting was attended by the Prosecutors General of the SCO Member States, as well as representatives of a number of other states invited by the chairing party, SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev and Director of the Executive Committee of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure Ularbek Sharsheev.

The participants discussed, inter alia, the protection of traditional family values and measures to prevent the dissemination of destructive content among minors. Following the meeting, a Protocol containing a number of specific decisions was signed.

SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev delivered welcoming remarks, noting that in the Bishkek Declaration on the 25th Anniversary of the SCO, the Heads of State advocated deeper dialogue among supreme courts, prosecutors general’s offices and ministries of justice, based on the principles of the rule of law and respect for national legal systems.

On the sidelines of the meeting in Kazan, SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev held a bilateral meeting with Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Alexander Gutsan, as well as brief meetings with the Prosecutors General of other countries. During the meeting with the Prosecutor General of Russia, the parties exchanged views on deepening cooperation among prosecution authorities within the SCO framework, implementing the agreements reached at the meeting, and enhancing coordination between the SCO Secretariat and other SCO bodies. The Secretary-General expressed appreciation to the Russian side for its active efforts to promote cooperation among the Prosecutors General’s Offices of the SCO Member States.
