On 18–20 September 2026, as part of the observation of the elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation, members of the SCO Observer Mission led by SCO Deputy Secretary-General Piao Yangfan visited polling stations in Moscow and the Moscow Region.

The Mission comprises 15 representatives from six SCO member states (the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the People's Republic of China, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan) and the SCO Secretariat.

During the monitoring, Mission members held conversations with chairpersons and members of local election commissions, national and international observers, and citizens who came to the polling stations.
