On September 18, 2026, the International Coordination Headquarters for the international anti-drug operation of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization "Spider Web" concluded its work in the Issyk-Kul Region of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The operation was conducted from September 14 to 18, 2026, in the SCO member states.
To coordinate joint actions, an International Coordination Headquarters was deployed in the Kyrgyz Republic, whose work was led by the Drug Control Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic.
About 25,000 officers from the internal affairs bodies, anti-drug, border, and customs services of the SCO member states were involved in the operation.
During the work of the International Coordination Headquarters, representatives of the competent authorities of the SCO member states carried out operational information exchange, coordinated joint actions, and exchanged national experience and practical approaches to countering modern forms of drug crime.
As part of the program, participants familiarized themselves with the organization of work to identify and suppress channels for the illegal movement of drugs across the state border, as well as with the possibilities of using modern technical means, including unmanned aerial vehicles and underwater drones.
As a result of the measures carried out in the territories of the SCO member states, 3,845 drug crimes were identified, 811 persons were detained, and the activities of 4 underground drug laboratories were suppressed.
More than 5 tons 296 kg of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances were seized from illicit circulation, including about 153 kg of heroin, 1 ton 170 kg of opium, more than 2 tons 148 kg of cannabis, about 604 kg of hashish, and over 1 ton 206 kg of synthetic drugs.
In addition, more than 53 tons 703 kg of precursors were seized. 19 cases of drug smuggling were suppressed, 87 crimes committed in group forms were identified, 10 cases of legalization of income from illicit drug trafficking were identified, and 2,004 internet resources through which prohibited information about drugs was disseminated were blocked.
During the operation, 26 units of firearms and 2,787 rounds of ammunition were also seized, and 120 persons wanted for committing crimes were detained.
The final meeting of the International Coordination Headquarters was attended by delegations of the SCO member states, representatives of the SCO Secretariat, the CARICC, the CSTO Secretariat, the Eurasian Group on Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism, and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime.
Participants of the meeting exchanged views on issues of further development of practical interaction, information and analytical cooperation, countering criminal proceeds related to illicit drug trafficking, as well as the use of modern technologies in law enforcement activities.
The SCO international anti-drug operation "Spider Web" became an important practical stage in further strengthening the interaction of the competent authorities of the SCO member states in countering transnational drug crime.
