On 14 September 2026, the 46th meeting of the Council of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (RATS SCO) was held in Islamabad under the chairmanship of the Pakistan side. The meeting was attended by delegations from the competent authorities of the Organization's member states, as well as from the SCO Secretariat.

The parties exchanged views on strengthening practical cooperation in the interest of ensuring regional security.

In her remarks, SCO Deputy Secretary-General Piao Yangfan focused on the main outcomes of the Bishkek Summit held on 1 September 2026, in particular the agreements reached on ensuring security and stability and countering challenges and threats in the SCO region.

The significant and active role of RATS SCO in deepening interaction among the SCO member states in combating terrorism, separatism and extremism was noted.

Piao Yangfan also drew the participants' attention to the growing risks in the field of information security and the need to ensure the safe and responsible use of artificial intelligence technologies, including the inadmissibility of their use for the deliberate infliction of harm to human life and health, as well as to national security, territorial integrity and sovereignty of states.

Following the meeting, a joint meeting of the heads of delegations was held with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan M.I. Dar.

The meeting took place in a constructive and businesslike atmosphere.
