On September 4, 2026, a meeting was held at the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation in Beijing between Secretary General Nurlan Yermekbayev and State Secretary of the Assembly of the Peoples of the World Alena Dolgopolova. Welcoming the delegation, the SCO Secretary General briefed them on the Organisation's current activities, including its humanitarian track.
Continuing the conversation, Deputy Secretary-General Sohail Khan and the State Secretary of the Assembly of the Peoples of the World had a thorough exchange of views on the prospects for developing cooperation, including in the areas of culture and people's diplomacy.
The State Secretary informed of the Assembly's interest in holding events under its auspices in the People's Republic of China in 2026 and 2027, and expressed the hope that representatives of SCO member states and the Secretariat would take part in them.
The parties confirmed mutual interest in continuing the dialogue with a view to achieving practical results.
The Assembly of the Peoples of the World is an international union of non-governmental organisations and citizens who share and promote the ideas and values of Eurasian integration, the protection of peace, and the strengthening of friendship, harmony, partnership and good-neighbourliness among peoples.
The main goal of the Assembly of the Peoples of the World is to foster a public integration model for a greater Eurasian partnership of peoples, based on spiritual and moral principles, in the name of establishing peace and harmony through the development of multilateral cooperation and public (people's) diplomacy.
