On August 23, 2026, as part of the observation of the elections of deputies to the Kurultai of the Republic of Kazakhstan, members of the Mission from the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, comprising representatives of a number of SCO member states (the Republic of Belarus, the People's Republic of China, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, and the Republic of Uzbekistan) as well as officials of the Organization's Secretariat, visited a number of polling stations.

As part of the monitoring, Mission representatives were present at the opening and closing of polling stations, held conversations with members of electoral commissions, national and international observers, as well as with citizens participating in the voting.

Mission members informed about the progress of the monitoring work during a briefing at the Centre for Assistance to International Observers and Mass Media.
Based on the observation results, the SCO Mission held a working meeting to discuss the draft final statement.
