On August 22, 2026, in Astana, the Head of the Observer Mission of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization for the elections of deputies of the Kurultai of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Deputy Secretary-General of the SCO T.R. Midhun, held a working meeting for international observers representing the Organization's member states.
T.R. Midhun informed the meeting participants on the tasks and principles of the Mission's activities and emphasized that the monitoring of the voting process would be impartial, independent, and objective. He also noted the need for strict adherence to the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of Kazakhstan and compliance with the norms of the national legislation of the Republic.
The meeting also set out the distribution and work schedule of observers for election day (August 23).
