On 12 August 2026, at the initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia to the PRC, a meeting between SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev and Vahe Gevorgyan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the People's Republic of China, took place at the SCO Secretariat in Beijing.
The Ambassador noted Armenia’s constructive engagement with the SCO and its Member States, and emphasized the country's commitment to intensifying and deepening cooperation within the Organisation. He stressed that ties with Member States and with the SCO as a whole are among the priorities of Armenia's foreign policy, given the Organisation's role in expanding the geography of Yerevan's political, economic, and cultural-humanitarian contacts. He confirmed that the Prime Minister of Armenia will participate in the upcoming "SCO Plus" meeting in Bishkek.
The Secretary-General briefed the Ambassador on the preparations for the meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State and related events scheduled for late August – early September in Kyrgyzstan, and expressed appreciation for Armenia's continued interest to the Organisation's activities.
The meeting was held in a constructive and friendly atmosphere.
