On June 25–27, 2026, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Women's Forum on the theme "Women's Leadership" was held in Bishkek. The event was organized by the Ministry of Labour, Social Security and Migration of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The Forum was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Ulan Mamatkhanov, high-level representatives of governments, state and public organizations, diplomatic missions of the Organization's member states, as well as a delegation of the SCO Secretariat headed by Deputy Secretary-General Piao Yangfan.

During the session, participants exchanged of views took place on the achievements of member states in increasing women's participation in public administration and governance, political, legal and institutional measures to ensure gender equality, as well as proposals for creating conditions for the comprehensive development of women.
The participants noted that ensuring equal opportunities for women is a prerequisite for achieving stability and progress, and that only with the full and equal participation of women in political and socio-economic processes is it possible to build a just society, achieve the prosperity of states, and effectively respond to contemporary global challenges.

In her remarks, Deputy Secretary-General Piao Yangfan emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and security in order to protect women and free them from violence. She highlighted the need to increase women's involvement in economic globalization, the scientific and technological revolution, and industrial transformation. She proposed promoting more equitable participation of women in global governance. In this regard, the Secretariat expressed its readiness to continue supporting the activities of the SCO Women's Forum platform.
