On June 25, 2026, the opening ceremony of the Ninth China-Eurasia EXPO was held in Urumqi, the People's Republic of China, under the theme "New Opportunities of the Silk Road – New Energy of Eurasia."
The event was organised by the Ministry of Commerce of the PRC, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and the People's Government of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, the Secretariat of the China–Central Asia Format, and the Institute of Regional Economic Cooperation in Central Asia acted as partners. Kazakhstan and Pakistan were invited as guest countries of honour.

The opening ceremony was attended by Ding Xuexiang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council of the PRC; Serik Zhumangarin, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Erlist Akunbekov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers – Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic; and Ghulam Mustafa Shah, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Upon the invitation of the organisers, a representative of the SCO Secretariat also took part in the ceremony. In total, the event brought together representatives from 49 countries and regions, international organisations, as well as over 3,000 enterprises.
The EXPO pavilion comprises six thematic zones: investment cooperation, new productive forces, industries with special advantages, green development, the integration of culture and tourism, and Silk Road cooperation.
A number of business meetings were held during the event, including specialised sessions on "Export to China for Kazakhstan Companies" and "Chinese Enterprises Entering the Central Asian Market."
The China-Eurasia EXPO is a state-level international comprehensive fair focused on the Eurasian region. It was first held in 2011. Over the years, the EXPO has been attended by more than 70 leaders from various countries and international organisations, over 1,000 official representatives at the ministerial level, as well as more than 140,000 representatives from 15,000 enterprises across over 120 countries and regions worldwide. The total number of visitors has exceeded 2 million people.
The event plays an important role in the development of diplomatic ties and practical cooperation between China and the countries of Eurasia.
