On June 25, in Beijing, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Nurlan Yermekbayev met with Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the People's Republic of China.
Nurlan Yermekbayev congratulated the Ambassador of Iran on the signing of the memorandum between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America, expressing hope that the agreements reached would contribute to security and peace in the region.

The Secretary-General informed about the progress of preparations for key events under the Kyrgyz chairmanship, as well as the development of Iran's initiatives in various areas of SCO activities. He thanked the Ambassador for the invitation to the official mourning ceremonies on the occasion of the passing of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and expressed his readiness to pay a visit to Iran.

The Ambassador expressed gratitude to the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation for its consistent support and attention to issues of interest to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The parties reaffirmed their mutual interest in further strengthening practical cooperation within the framework of the Organisation.
