On June 22, 2026, SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev received at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Secretariat in Beijing the Director of Ves Mir Publishing House, Oleg Zimarin, and Professor of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, former SCO Secretary-General Rashid Alimov.
The guests informed the Secretary-General about the publication of the book "Shanghai Cooperation Organization: From a Regional Mechanism to a Global Factor" authored by Rashid Alimov. Presentations of the book were held in Moscow, Dushanbe, and Beijing as part of the 32nd Beijing International Book Fair.
Nurlan Yermekbayev thanked the interlocutors for their practical contribution to commemorating the 25th anniversary of the SCO and noted that such projects help promote the Organization, particularly among the expert community and the younger generation.
The parties exchanged views on promising areas of cooperation between the SCO Secretariat and the Publishing House, as well as possible joint initiatives aimed at strengthening mutual understanding and cultural ties among the Organization's member states.
At the conclusion of the meeting, a ceremony was held to hand over to the SCO Secretariat books published by "Ves Mir" that were featured at the 32nd Beijing International Book Fair. The books have been placed in the Secretariat's library collection.
Rashid Alimov served as SCO Secretary-General from 2016 to 2018.
"Ves Mir" Publishing House was established in 1994 as an independent private publishing house specializing in publications on social sciences and humanities. It continues the traditions of the largest Soviet publishing house of translated literature "Progress".
