On June 17, 2026, a high-level roundtable with the participation of Asian regional organizations was held in Astana at the headquarters of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA). The event was themed "Strengthening Synergy for a Secure and Connected Asia" and was dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the CICA Secretariat.
The event was attended by heads of executive bodies of regional organizations in Asia, representatives of UN specialized agencies and centers, the diplomatic corps accredited in Kazakhstan, as well as analytical and expert circles.
In his remarks, Advisor of the SCO Secretariat Behruz Mokhtari emphasized the importance of thoroughly developing initiatives aimed at identifying common ground between regional organizations, fostering practical synergy among executive bodies, and enhancing the effectiveness of multilateral cooperation. It was underscored that the SCO has traditionally advocated for the development of partnership ties between regional associations, and that open, inclusive, and mutually respectful cooperation among multilateral institutions can make a significant contribution to strengthening peace, stability, and sustainable development in Asia.
