On June 11–13, 2026, the Forum of the Association of Legal Universities of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation member states was held in Bishkek under the theme “The Role of the Association of Legal Universities in Implementing SCO Initiatives.”
The event was organized by Kyrgyz National University named after Zhusup Balasagyn as part of the Kyrgyz Republic’s chairmanship of the SCO in 2025–2026 and in preparation for the meeting of the Council of Heads of SCO Member States this year.
SCO Secretariat Takes Part in the Forum of the SCO Association of Legal Universities
The gathering brought together legal scholars, educators, researchers, representatives of specialized universities, as well as officials from government bodies of SCO member states and the SCO Secretariat.
Kazybek Kochkonov, Advisor to the SCO Secretariat, noted that the Forum has established itself as an important platform for expanding educational cooperation and makes a significant contribution to strengthening partnerships among leading legal universities, enhancing academic mobility, exchanging best practices, and developing mechanisms for implementing joint initiatives.
The parties reaffirmed their interest in further expanding cooperation in the field of legal education and science, and in enhancing the role of the Association of Legal Universities in achieving the goals and objectives of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.
The Forum aims to help address current issues of cooperation among specialized universities, facilitate the exchange of experience in legal education and research, and develop proposals for implementing the Organisation’s objectives in educational and research activities.
