On June 11, 2026, Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev met with Zhao Yide, Secretary of the CPC Shaanxi Provincial Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Shaanxi Provincial People's Congress, in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, the People's Republic of China.
During the meeting, the Secretary-General noted the significant contribution of Shaanxi Province to the development of cooperation within the SCO framework in the areas of agriculture, economy and trade, transport, tourism, education, and other fields. He emphasized that with the active support of the provincial party committee and the People's Government of Shaanxi Province, the SCO Demonstration Base for Agricultural Technology Exchange and Training has achieved considerable results in developing interaction with the SCO member states and other countries.
Zhao Yide briefed the Secretary-General on the main outcomes of Shaanxi Province's socio-economic development and put forward a number of proposals aimed at strengthening cooperation within the SCO. He reaffirmed the province's readiness to continue actively participating in the advancement of practical cooperation across the Organisation's space.
The meeting took place in a friendly and constructive atmosphere. After the meeting Zhao Yide hosted a reception in honor of the SCO Secretary-General.
