On June 1–5, 2026, a political dialogue session on South-South Cooperation was held in Lanzhou, China, under the theme: "Building a Climate-Resilient Future: Connecting Food Insecure Communities to Solutions through South-South Cooperation."
The event was organized by the UN World Food Programme (WFP) Centre of Excellence in China, the National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation, the International Coalition for Green Development on the Belt and Road, and Northwest A&F University. The gathering brought together over 100 delegates from 15 countries.
SCO Secretariat participates in the UN World Food Programme Event on South-South Cooperation
In a video address to the participants, T.R. Midhun, Deputy Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, noted that the SCO has been consistently developing cooperation in the agricultural sector as part of the implementation of the Intergovernmental Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Agriculture of June 11, 2010. He also presented information on the outcomes of the 11th Meeting of the SCO Ministers of Agriculture (Bishkek, April 15, 2026), which was chaired by the Kyrgyz side.
