On June 5, 2026, in Bishkek, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Japarov, received the participants of the Meeting of Ministers of Internal Affairs and Public Security of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Member States.
He warmly welcomed the heads of delegations and noted the importance of holding the SCO Meeting of Ministers of Internal Affairs and Public Security during Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship of the Organisation.

The President noted that the international system is undergoing a profound transformation, and security mechanisms are weakening. Under these circumstances, the SCO is one of the few international organisations where the principles of equality, trust, and the "Shanghai Spirit" enable effective cooperation in order to maintain peace and stability in the region.
In his remarks at the meeting, the SCO Secretary-General thanked the President for his personal attention to matters of strengthening security across the SCO space, as well as for the active and effective chairmanship of the Organization.
Nurlan Yermekbayev also congratulated the President and the people of the Kyrgyz Republic on the country's election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for 2027–2028.
