On June 5, 2026, the 4th Meeting of Ministers of Industry of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Member States was held in Cholpon-Ata under the chairmanship of the Kyrgyz side.
The heads of delegations conducted a thorough exchange of views on current issues of cooperation in the fields of economy and industrial production, including the implementation of innovative solutions, the development of environmentally sustainable systems, and the digitalization of enterprises. They emphasized the importance of deepening multilateral cooperation and effectively utilizing technological potential, taking into account the accumulated experience and capabilities of the member states. The parties considered a number of initiatives in this specialized field.
Sohail Khan, Deputy Secretary-General of the SCO, noted in his remarks that the diversification of industrial production and the stimulation of mutual investments in the real sector of the economy contribute to strengthening the industrial potential of the member states. This, in turn, stimulates positive macroeconomic dynamics. The consistent implementation of measures to unlock the potential of technological partnership and to stimulate cooperation mechanisms is intended to help foster a sustainable industrial environment across the SCO space in the long term.
Following the meeting the provision "On the Data Bank of Investment Projects in the Industry of SCO Member States" was approved, and a Joint Communiqué was adopted.
As part of the program, delegates visited an industrial exhibition, which showcased the potential of leading enterprises from the Kyrgyz Republic and other SCO member states in such areas as the chemical industry, automotive manufacturing, mechanical engineering, production of construction materials, jewelry, and pharmaceuticals.
