On June 4, 2026, in Beijing Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Nurlan Yermekbayev met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bobur Usmanov.
They discussed current issues of SCO activities and priority areas for the development of multilateral cooperation within the Organisation. Paid particular attention to the preparation of upcoming high-level and top-level events, the improvement of practical cooperation mechanisms, and the implementation of agreements reached by the heads of member states.
The Secretary-General emphasized the active role of the Republic of Uzbekistan in strengthening the SCO's potential, promoting joint initiatives aimed at ensuring peace, security and sustainable development, as well as expanding humanitarian ties across the Organisation's space.
The Deputy Minister reaffirmed his country's unwavering commitment to strengthening ties within the SCO and stressed the importance of consolidating the efforts of member states in the face of contemporary regional and global challenges.
The parties noted the high level of interaction between the SCO Secretariat and the competent authorities of Uzbekistan and expressed their readiness to continue close coordination of work in the interests of implementing the decisions taken by the Organisation.
