On 29 May 2026, a Meeting of Finance Ministers and Governors of Central (National) Banks of Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states was held in Bishkek, chaired by the Kyrgyz side.
The meeting was opened by Ruslan Suyinaliev, Minister of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic, and Almaz Baketaev, Governor of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic.

A welcome address was delivered by T.R. Midhun, Deputy Secretary-General of the SCO, who noted the importance of strengthening practical financial cooperation and establishing new mechanisms for multilateral collaboration, particularly in the context of the SCO's 25th anniversary.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on current trends in the development of the global economy and the international financial system, discussed issues of ensuring financial stability amid persistent global challenges, as well as the prospects for deepening financial cooperation across the SCO space.
Special attention was paid to the digitalization of public finances, expanding the use of national currencies in mutual settlements, and developing practical mechanisms for interaction between financial departments and relevant analytical structures of SCO member states.
The meeting participants also took note of the report on the progress of consultations on the establishment of the SCO Development Bank, which are being conducted by the interested member states.
