On 27 May 2026, the Global Forum on Poverty Reduction and Development was held in Beijing. The event was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People's Republic of China jointly with the International Poverty Reduction Center in China.
Liu Guozhong, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, delivered a welcome address to the participants.
The delegation of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Secretariat was led by Deputy Secretary-General Sohail Khan.
The forum brought together representatives from more than 50 countries and international organizations. One of the key outcomes was the decision to establish a Global Partnership Committee on Poverty Reduction and Development.
