On 26 May 2026, on the sidelines of the Fourth High-Level International Conference under the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018–2028” in Dushanbe, a conversation took place between the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Nurlan Yermekbayev, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Sirojiddin Muhriddin.
The parties noted the SCO’s contribution to ensuring regional stability and security amid the complex international situation and the worsening crisis trends affecting the Organization’s space. The interlocutors agreed that the SCO has broad capabilities to respond adequately and promptly to existing challenges and to take an active part in shaping a new architecture of a multipolar world order.

Special attention was paid to the preparations for the Summit in Bishkek, improving the SCO’s performance, as well as deepening cooperation in the economic, transport and logistics spheres, and along the cultural and humanitarian track.
The close dialogue established between the leadership of the Secretariat and the Tajik side, the active participation of official Dushanbe in shaping the Organization’s agenda, and its constructive position across the entire range of cooperation areas were noted with satisfaction. The head of the foreign policy agency of the Republic of Tajikistan highlighted the important role of the Secretariat in the Organization’s activities.
The talks were held in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
