On May 19, 2026, Deputy Secretary General T.R. Midhun met with representatives of the International Cooperation Center under the State Committee for Development and Reform of the People's Republic of China at the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation in Beijing. This structure is the main coordinating and advisory body responsible for the development of the China-SCO Green Industry Cooperation Platform, established by the Government of the country in 2025 following the results of the Tianjin SCO Summit.
During the conversation T.R. Midhun informed the guests about the priorities of the SCO economic cooperation in the field of industry and sustainable development, as well as the implementation of agreements between the member states in relevant areas. Special attention was paid to promising areas of cooperation outlined in the Statement on Cooperation in the field of "green" industry adopted at the Tianjin Summit in 2025, and work on the formation of a database of investment projects in the field of industry in the Organisation.
Representatives of the International Cooperation Center under the CCRR spoke about the activities of the China-SCO Green Industry Cooperation Platform, events and projects aimed at sharing experiences and best practices in the Organization's space.
The parties reached an agreement to continue working contacts and coordinate joint steps to deepen practical cooperation involving the relevant mechanisms of the Organisation.
During the SCO General Assembly meeting in Tianjin (August 31 – September 1, 2025), Chinese President Xi Jinping announced the establishment of three China–SCO cooperation platforms in the fields of energy, green industry and the digital economy, as well as three cooperation centers in the fields of technological innovation, higher and vocational education.
