At the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev will pay an official visit to the country on May 20–21, 2026.
The visit programme includes meetings of the Secretary-General with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and heads of a number of ministries and agencies of Sri Lanka.
The Secretary-General will also visit the Institute of International Relations and Strategic Studies of Sri Lanka, where he will deliver an open lecture.
The Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka has been a Dialogue Partner of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation since 2010.
