On May 12–14, 2026, a delegation of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Secretariat headed by Deputy Secretary-General T.R. Midhun took part in Uzbekistan Energy Week – 2026 in Tashkent.
The event brought together 580 companies and brands, over 140 speakers and moderators, and more than 1,500 delegates from 34 countries.
The business program’s theme was "New Energy: Innovation, Sustainability, Regional Cooperation."
Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khojaev speaking at the opening plenary session emphasized that the country intends to make energy one of the key pillars of its development — for industry, investors, the population, regional cooperation, and the "green" transition.
T.R. Midhun noted that SCO member states attach great importance to strengthening mutually beneficial energy cooperation within the Organization. In the context of contemporary geopolitical and economic challenges, sustainable transport and energy corridors are becoming a critical factor for energy security, market stability, and supply chains. He drew attention to the need for further strengthening cooperation to ensure sustainable development and energy prosperity for the region.
