On May 8, 2026, an annual wreath-laying ceremony was held at the memorial for Soviet and Mongolian soldiers who fell in the battles to liberate Northeast China from Japanese occupation, in the Zhangjiakou City area, Hebei Province, China.
SCO Secretariat participates in the Ceremony to Commemorate the Fallen Soviet and Mongolian Soldiers in the Great Patriotic War and the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression
The event, dedicated to the 81st anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, was attended by delegations led by ambassadors from the Commonwealth of Independent States member countries, Ambassador of Mongolia; officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China and the Zhangjiakou Municipal People’s Government; representatives of public organizations; and descendants of the buried soldiers.
Piao Yangfan, Deputy Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, laid a wreath at the memorial complex on behalf of the SCO Secretariat.
