On April 23, 2026, the 13th Meeting of Ministers of Transport of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Member States was held in Bishkek under the chairmanship of the Kyrgyz side.
The heads of delegations exchanged views on issues of cooperation in the field of transport, including the introduction of modern digital solutions and the development of sustainable and efficient corridors. They particularly emphasized the importance of deepening interagency coordination and maintaining regular dialogue. The parties also reviewed a number of initiatives proposed by SCO member states in the relevant field.

During the meeting SCO Deputy Secretary-General T.R. Midhun noted that expanding transport cooperation helps increase transit potential and accelerate the movement of goods, thereby ensuring positive dynamics in trade indicators. He also stressed that the consistent implementation of measures to harmonize electronic procedures and ensure the compatibility of digital platforms will contribute to the formation of a seamless logistics environment across the Organization’s territory.

Following the meeting a meeting protocol and a Memorandum of Understanding between the transport authorities of the SCO member states on cooperation in the digitalization of permits for international road transport (in the format of interested parties) were signed. Additionally, the Regulations on the establishment of a new sectoral mechanism — the Special Working Group on the Development of Cooperation in the Field of Transport — were approved.
