On April 8, 2026, the 43rd meeting of the Working Group on Afghanistan under the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) took place in Moscow.
The event was attended by authorized representatives of CSTO member states, the SCO Secretariat, the Executive Committee of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS), the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Office, the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, the CIS Executive Committee, the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center, and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
The parties exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan taking into account existing risks and threats.
SCO Secretariat takes part in the Meeting of the CSTO Working Group on Afghanistan
Behrooz Mokhtari, advisor at the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, presented the position of the Organization's member states on their commitment to the establishment of Afghanistan as an independent, neutral, and peaceful state, free from terrorism, war, and drugs.
