On April 8, 2026, a meeting was held in Hainan Province (PRC) between the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Nurlan Yermekbayev, and Lu Ping, a member of the Council of the China International Chamber of Commerce, Executive Chairperson of the Hainan Chamber of Commerce, and head of the Dehang Group in the Hainan Free Trade Zone.
Lu Ping informed about the operation of a permanent consumer goods exhibition in the city of Sanya, which features trade pavilions of SCO member states. Currently, pavilions of Iran, Kazakhstan, and Russia are are opened, with exhibitions from other member states of the Organization planned to open. She also noted the development of cooperation with the Kyrgyz Republic, the current SCO chair, which has opened a similar pavilion in Kashgar (Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, PRC).

The parties discussed opportunities for developing interaction between Hainan Province and the Hainan Free Trade Zone with SCO member states, including cross-border trade and the promotion of products on the Chinese market.
