On March 27, 2026, the 6th Meeting of Heads of Railway Administrations (Railways) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states was held in Bishkek under the chairmanship of the Kyrgyz side.
A thorough exchange of views took place regarding the implementation of previously adopted decisions, as well as an analysis of the measures being taken to develop the system of railway trunk lines across the SCO space.
Meeting of Heads of Railway Administrations of SCO Member States takes place in Bishkek
During the discussion, SCO Deputy Secretary General T.R. Midhun noted the significance of the Action Plan for the Implementation of the Concept of Interaction between Railway Administrations (Railways) of SCO Member States until 2027, which was approved by the Organization’s Council of Heads of Government in Moscow in 2025. He emphasized that the railway industry serves as a foundation for deepening integration ties and strengthening mutually beneficial partnerships among the countries of the Organization.
Participants of the meeting signed a protocol, approved a statute and thematic areas of activity of the working group on railway transport research. A number of initiatives from SCO member states in this specialized field were also reviewed.
