On March 20, 2026, a delegation from the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization attended the opening ceremony of the new representative office of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Beijing.
The SCO attaches great importance to its engagement with the FAO in advancing shared priorities and deepening partnership relations.
The Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the FAO signed a Memorandum of Understanding on November 2, 2019, on the sidelines of the Meeting of the Council of Heads of Government (Prime Ministers) of the SCO Member States in Tashkent.
The Memorandum serves as a tool for formalizing cooperation in the fields of agriculture, food security and sustainable development, including the exchange of information, research findings, experience and best practices.
