On March 4, 2026, at the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Beijing Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev met with the Director of the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, Kazybek Moldazhiev.
The parties reviewed the prospects for expanding cooperation among SCO member states in the field of physical culture and sports, including holding joint events, developing youth exchanges, and promoting healthy lifestyles within the Organization.
The Secretary-General informed the Director about the development of interaction in the sports sphere within the SCO framework and briefed him on the activities of the relevant specialized mechanism, emphasizing that this area is among the most dynamically developing in the Organization. In this regard, the importance of the International Issyk-Kul SCO Marathon was noted as the Marathon is one of the flagship sporting events contributing to the strengthening of friendly ties between the peoples of the member states and the popularization of a healthy lifestyle.
Kazybek Moldazhiev spoke about the priorities of the Kyrgyz Republic in the field of sports and expressed interest in further enhancing practical cooperation within the Organization, including participation in events held during his Kyrgyz Republic's chairmanship of the SCO.
