On March 3, 2026, in Beijing, the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Nurlan Yermekbayev, met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the People's Republic of China, Abdolreza Rahmani-Fazli.
Nurlan Yermekbayev expressed his condolences regarding the numerous casualties resulting from the military strikes on the territory of Iran, wishing resilience, peace, and prosperity for the people of the country.
The Secretary-General informed about the political and diplomatic response measures taken by the Organization in connection with the situation surrounding Iran. He emphasized the united position of the SCO member states on the necessity of ensuring the sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of the country.He also underlined the need for the UN and its Security Council to take immediate measures to counter the undermining of international peace and security.
The Ambassador thanked the Secretary-General for his words of support, expressing hope for the continuation of the SCO's efforts to protect the legitimate interests of its member states in accordance with the norms of international law and the UN Charter.
