On February 26, 2026, a meeting of the heads of structural divisions for international military cooperation of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation was held in Bishkek under the chairmanship of the Kyrgyz side.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the defence ministries of the SCO member states, as well as the Organisation's Secretariat.
The parties had a thorough exchange of views on strengthening cooperation in the military sphere, enhancing practical ties, and improving coordination mechanisms in the interests of ensuring regional security.
The participants reaffirmed their commitment to further developing cooperation based on the principles of mutual trust, equality, and respect for the national interests of the member states. They paid special attention to plans for joint events in 2026, including preparations for the Meeting of the Ministers of Defence of the SCO member states.
The meeting was held in constructive atmosphere, confirming the parties' commitment to strengthening interaction within the SCO.
