On 11 February 2026, at the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Beijing Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbaev met with Mohammed Abdullah Al-Dehaimi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar to the People’s Republic of China.
The Secretary-General briefed the head of the diplomatic mission on the current state of affairs in the Organization, focusing on the process of improving and modernizing the activities of the SCO. He noted that, in accordance with the decision of the leaders of the SCO countries, the Secretariat, in cooperation with the member states, has worked to enhance cooperation with dialogue partners.

The progressive development of relations between the SCO member states and the State of Qatar was noted with satisfaction.
The sides discussed the current issues of deepening interaction between the SCO and Qatar, including in the humanitarian area with an emphasis on practical work. It was agreed to maintain close working contacts and exchange ideas on prospective areas of cooperation.
