On 10 February 2026, a meeting between Nurlan Yermekbayev, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, and Liu Bin, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC in Beijing.
An in-depth exchange of views took place on key areas of cooperation within the SCO framework. Particular attention was paid to the implementation of the decisions of the Tianjin Summit (1 September 2025), their alignment with the tasks of the current presidency of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as issues of improving the Organization’s activities.
Nurlan Yermekbayev expressed gratitude to the Chinese side for its significant contribution to the development of the SCO, especially during China’s presidency of the Organization in 2024–2025, and for its consistent support for the proposals put forward by the Secretariat.
The Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs thanked the Secretary-General for his proactive work, assuring the readiness of the Chinese side to provide comprehensive assistance to the Secretariat’s efforts to promote multilateral cooperation and raise the international profile of the SCO. Liu Bin expressed support for the Secretariat’s proposals aimed at improving and enhancing the efficiency of the Organization’s work, expressing hope that its proactive role in this process would be further strengthened.
