On January 22, 2026, at the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Beijing, Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev met with Nazmul Islam, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of Bangladesh to the People's Republic of China.
Nurlan Yermekbayev briefed Ambassador on the Organization's key areas of activity and the main outcomes of the 2025 meeting of the Council of Heads of Member States, the SCO Plus format meeting, and the meeting of the Council of Heads of Government.
Nazmul Islam thanked the Secretary-General for the briefing and expressed his country's interest in expanding and elevating the level of cooperation with the SCO.
