On January 19, 2026 in Singapore a meeting took place between Deputy Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Ahmad Saidmurodzoda and Bastian Giegerich, Director-General of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) together with Ms. Veerle Nouwens, Executive Director of the IISS Asia Office.
The IISS representatives welcomed the participation of the SCO Secretariat in the IISS Shangri-La Dialogue Sherpa Meeting noting their interest in active involvement of the SCO in events held under the auspices of Shangri-La Dialogue. Parties agreed to maintain working contacts between the SCO Secretariat and IISS.
