On January 19, 2026, at the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Beijing, Secretary-General of the Organization Nurlan Yermekbayev met with the newly appointed Special Representative of the Government of the People's Republic of China on SCO Affairs, China's National Coordinator Yan Wenbin.
The Secretary-General congratulated Yan Wenbin on his appointment as the Special Representative of the Chinese Government on SCO Affairs, China's National Coordinator for SCO Affairs, and wished him success in his new responsible position.
During the meeting parties discussed issues related to the implementation of the decisions of the Tianjin Summit, priority areas of the Organization's activities within the framework of the chairmanship of Kyrgyz Republic in 2025-2026, as well as initiatives connected with the Organization's 25th anniversary and strengthening the capacity of the SCO Secretariat.
