On January 16, 2026, an international seminar dedicated to the priority areas of work for the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) in 2026 was held in Beijing.
The seminar was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps and international organizations accredited in China, leading experts from analytical centers, as well as scholars specializing in Asian studies. The event was opened with welcoming speeches by BFA Secretary-General Zhang Jun, China's Representative to the BFA Mu Hong, and BFA Council Member and former President of Slovenia, Danilo Türk. During his speech on the topic of multilateralism, Deputy Secretary-General Ahmad Saidmurodzoda noted that the SCO is an active participant in the large-scale initiatives unfolding in Asia. He emphasized that the SCO Development Strategy - 2035 sets the task of enhancing the Organization's international authority and influence, and for this purpose, strengthening ties with the UN and its specialized agencies, as well as with other international and regional organizations whose activities are not directed against the interests of the SCO and its member states.

DSG Saidmurodzoda also provided participants with information on the initiative put forward in 2004 by the heads of SCO member states on coordinating and aligning the activities of all international structures in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as the SCO initiative "On Global Unity for a Just Peace, Harmony, and Development," announced by the Council of Heads of State in 2024. The international seminar was organized as part of preparations for the BFA Annual Conference scheduled for March 2026 in Hainan Province, China.
