On January 15, 2026, at the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Beijing, the SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev met with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the People's Republic of China Igor Morgulov and the new Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the SCO Secretariat, Minister-Counselor of the Russian Embassy Lenar Salimullin.

The meeting discussed issues related to the SCO's activities, the implementation of decisions from the Tianjin Summit, and the priority areas of the Organization's work under the chairmanship of the Kyrgyz Republic in 2025-2026.
The Secretary-General welcomed the new Russian Permanent Representative and wished him success in his new responsible position, highly appreciating the Russian side's contribution to the development of the SCO.
