On November 20, 2025 in Ulaanbaatar the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Nurlan Yermekbayev held a meeting with the Secretary of the National Security Council of Mongolia, Altangereliin Bymbaajargal.
The Secretary of the National Security Council welcomed the consistent efforts of the SCO member states, which contribute to ensuring security. He emphasized Mongolia's interest in cooperating with the Organization in jointly countering traditional and new security threats and challenges. Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of work in areas such as climate change and combating desertification, including within the SCO framework.

The Secretary-General informed his counterpart about the key outcomes of the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO member states held on August 31 – September 1 in Tianjin. He discussed the decisions on the documents related to the security sphere and informed on the existing mechanisms of cooperation in this area operating within the Organization.
Nurlan Yermekbayev informed the Secretary of the National Security Council of Mongolia about the preparations for launching the work of two new specialized bodies: the Universal Center for Countering Challenges and Threats to the Security of SCO Member States in Tashkent and the SCO Anti-Drug Center in Dushanbe.
