On October 28, 2025, the 2nd Forum on Asia-Pacific Forests was held in Pu’er, China. The event was organized at the initiative of the Asia-Pacific Network for Sustainable Forest Management and Rehabilitation (APFNET).
Officials and experts from Asia-Pacific countries and several international organizations took part in the Forum. Participants discussed prospects for establishing a regional platform to exchange experiences in forest policy, technology, and education, as well as to strengthen cooperation between governments and the private sector in promoting sustainable forest management and biodiversity conservation.

In a video address to the delegates, Mr. Sohail Khan, Deputy Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), shared the Organization’s experience in implementing environmental protection and sustainable development programs, including joint projects aimed at conserving ecosystems, preventing environmental pollution, promoting green technologies, and adapting to climate change. He emphasized the SCO Secretariat’s readiness to further enhance cooperation with APFNET and other relevant institutions.
