On October 25, 2025, in Yangling, Shaanxi Province, People’s Republic of China, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Agricultural Expo commenced as part of the 32nd China Yangling Agricultural Hi-Tech Fair. Both events are being held at the SCO Agricultural Technology Exchange and Training Demonstration Base based on the Yangling National Agricultural High-Tech Industry Demonstration Zone.
The SCO Expo was officially opened by Wu Wengan, Deputy Governor of the People’s Government of Shaanxi Province and Director of the Administrative Committee of the Yangling Demonstration Zone, together with Oleg Kopylov, Deputy Secretary General of the SCO and head of the Organization’s Secretariat delegation.
On the sidelines of the Expo, an SCO roundtable on the Development of Modern Agriculture was held under the chairmanship of Zhao Gang, Governor of the People’s Government of Shaanxi Province. The event gathered senior representatives of SCO member states, Chinese officials and specialists, as well as experts from relevant UN agencies. Participants put forward a number of constructive proposals aimed at intensifying cooperation within the SCO framework.
During the discussions, the SCO Deputy Secretary General emphasized the importance of introducing scientific and technological innovations to ensure food security and economic growth among member states. He particularly highlighted the pressing need for digitalization and the adoption of environmentally friendly technologies, which contribute to the development of precision farming and, ultimately, to the creation of sustainable agricultural systems.
As part of the event, the official opening of the SCO Demonstration Base’s Institute for Agricultural Technology Training and Exchange took place.
On the sidelines of the exhibition, the SCO Deputy Secretary General gave interviews to several Chinese media outlets.
