On October 23, 2025, at the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Beijing, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to the People’s Republic of China, Aktilek Musaeva, held media and diplomatic briefings dedicated to the priorities of Kyrgyzstan’s Chairmanship of the SCO for 2025–2026.

The events were attended by ambassadors and senior diplomats of SCO member states, observer states, and dialogue partners accredited in China, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC, as well as Chinese and foreign journalists.

The briefings were opened by SCO Secretary General Nurlan Yermekbayev, who delivered welcoming remarks. Extending best wishes for a successful and productive Chairmanship, he expressed confidence that Kyrgyzstan, as one of the founding members of the Organization, would make a significant contribution to strengthening unity, enhancing the SCO’s effectiveness, implementing practical projects, and expanding its international engagement.

In her statement, the head of the Kyrgyz diplomatic mission noted that during the SCO Summit held in Tianjin on September 1, 2025, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov put forward the slogan: “25 Years of the SCO: Together Towards Sustainable Peace, Development, and Prosperity.” In this context, Ambassador Musaeva outlined her country’s priorities as the Organisation’s Chair, presented the schedule of upcoming meetings and events for the current and following year, and shared plans to advance cooperation within the SCO in the fields of security, economy, digitalization, ecology, sustainable development, and cultural and humanitarian exchange.
Among the key objectives, the Kyrgyz side identified:
– maintaining long-term stability and security in the region;
– realizing the potential of economic cooperation;
– promoting digital transformation while effectively countering cyber threats;
– advancing the sustainable development agenda, including environmental protection, climate change response, and emergency management;
– and deepening cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
