On October 15, 2025, the international conference titled “SCO and Public Diplomacy: Prospects for Global Interaction” opened in Astana, Kazakhstan. The event was held within the framework of the 12th Civil Forum of Kazakhstan.
The conference was attended by representatives of government bodies, public organizations, and academic communities from the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
In a video address to the delegates, SCO Deputy Secretary General Sohail Khan emphasized that public diplomacy is an integral part of the Organization’s activities, contributing to the strengthening of trust, mutual understanding, and friendship. It was noted that following the SCO Summit in Tianjin, a Development Strategy of the Organization until 2035 was adopted, in which humanitarian cooperation is identified as one of the key priorities. Special attention was given to the work of public diplomacy centers and the SCO Goodwill Ambassadors Institute, which primarily promote intercultural and intercivilizational ties.
